Crown Prince at Berakas Health Screening Centre

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday also visited the Health Screening Centre in Berakas, where the Foreign Workers Health Screening programme is located, in the second leg of his working visit.

Present to greet HRH's arrival was the Director General of Health Services, Dr Hjh Intan Hj Salleh, who also presented a briefing on health services shortly after HRH's arrival at the centre.

At the end of the briefing, HRH highlighted on the cooperation between the health and education ministries in ensuring food safety for students at schools where HRH was briefed on the measures undertaken to address them.

HRH then visited the Food Quality and Safety Section that is responsible for monitoring and controlling of food provided at shops, restaurants and eating outlets for public consumption.

HRH also visited the Blood Screening Section for foreign workers in the country and viewed an exhibition on the roles and functions of the section and briefed on its current activities that took place before proceeding to the Berakas 'A' Health Centre.

At the centre, HRH toured the Paediatric and Mothers Health Section as well as the centre's outpatient department. During the visit to the centre, HRH consented to officiate the Smoking Cessation Clinic, an initiative of the Health Ministry in its effort to control the use of tobacco in the country. - Borneo Bulletin (5th June 2005)
