Special people have same rights as other people to live active and meaningful life

Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah said special people have the same rights as other people to live an active and meaningful life. Towards this, the Ehsan Centre has taken the initiative to give physical and spiritual support to the special people so that they can achieve their full potential. However, Her Royal Highness said that it is not easy to achieve the objectives. It needs continuous commitment from members of the public, especially from the public sector, professionals in the field of health as well as caring individuals. Her Royal Highness was speaking Sunday at the presentation of a contribution from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation to the Ehsan Centre.

In her speech, Her Royal Highness lauded the support given by the government agencies such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Development toward providing services that are needed by the centre. Her Royal Highness also appreciates all the support given by the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation. Earlier, Her Royal Highness Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah who’s the Chairman of the Centre’s Board of Trustees was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation and Members of the Ehsan Centre’s Board of Trustees. Also present was Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzillah Lubabul Bulqiah.

The Managing Director of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim said the foundation continues to give financial support to the centre. Part of the aid is organising programs towards upgrading the welfare of the rakyat in the country.

At the function, Her Royal Highness received a cheque amounting to 200-thousand dollars from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin. Also starting from this year, the foundation contributes 50-thousand dollars to the centre as an annual incentive. Subsequently, Her Royal Highness consented to present a souvenir. There was a briefing on the function of the centre delivered by a Member of the Board of Trustees, Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Alimin.

Her Royal Highness also toured various sections of the Ehsan Centre. It is a non-government organisation which provides services and trainings for the special people to help them achieve their potential up to the maximum level. (10th Apr 2006)
