Royal messages for Indonesia's 61st Independence Day

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to President Dr Haji Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of the Republic of Indonesia on the occasion of the 61st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that have so long been established between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Indonesia.

His Majesty expressed his hope that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples.

His Majesty prayed that President Dr Haji Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people of the Republic of Indonesia to always enjoy continued progress, peace and prosperity.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, conveyed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to Dr Nur Hassan Wirajuda, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia, and to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia on their Independence Day.

His Royal Highness said, "I have particularly appreciated Indonesia's hosting of a number of important regional and international meetings and would like to thank you personally for the excellent guidance you have offered us all through your chairmanship of these gatherings.

"I look forward to continuing our work to strengthen our relations as close neighbours and regional partners." (17th August 2006)
