Royal b'day banquet for uniformed personnel

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam last night hosted a royal banquet in conjunction with the monarch's 60th birthday at the Istana Nurul Iman, which was attended by all uniformed personnel.

Also present were Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha, Her Royal Highness Pg Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar binti Hakim Mazhar, His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Zariah as well as other members of the royal Family.

Among distinguished guests at the royal banquet were uniformed personnel of Gurkha Reserves, personnel from the British Garrison Brunei, Defence Centre, Royal Customs and Excise, Prisons Department, Immigration Department, Airport Fire and Rescue, Fire and Rescue Department, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Brunei Scouts, Brunei Girl Guides and Brunei Red Crescent.

Upon arrival of His Majesty, a 'doa selamat' was recited by State Mufti Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Umar. - Borneo Bulletin (18th July 2006)
