His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Inspector-General of Police, attended the Royal Brunei Police Force 85th anniversary banquet last night at the Royal Brunei Police Headquarters in Gadong.

His Majesty was greeted on arrival by top officials and members of RBPF. Also attending the grand ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Deputy Inspector-General of Police, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hjh Masna, Commandant of Women Police, and HRH Princess Hjh Nor'ain, Deputy Commandant of Women Police.

Sporting their symbolic white and black uniforms adorned with medals, top officials and members of the Royal Brunei Police Force gathered at the Police Officer's Mess to greet and mingle with His Majesty and members of the Royal Family during the event. The RBPF 85th anniversary banquet was also held to commemorate the installation of the new Crown of the Royal Brunei Police Force Royal Standard.

The banquet featured a candle-lit sumptuous feast with a live musical band to further liven up the grand occasion.

RBPF's 85th anniversary will also be documented by Radio Television Brunei, tipped to be aired near the end of this month. Members of the public are encouraged to tune in to the important programme entitled "Ristaan Zaman 85 Tahun Polis", a documentary on the milestones, and achievements among others of the Royal Brunei Police Force in its eight decades of service. - Borneo Bulletin (20th Jan 2006)
