A must-see exhibition for all, the MajlEx 2006, is currently being held as part of Majlis Ilmu (Convention of Knowledge) 2006 at the ICC until July 30 and in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan's 60th birthday celebrations.

Majlis Ilmu comprises two main events - a seminar called "Mendukung Kedaulatan Diraja" (Shouldering the Sovereignty of the Monarch) and the MajlEx.

The exhibition meanwhile includes four main sections: the King, Protector of Nation Exhibitions at the Media Convention Hall, the Majlis Ilmu 2006 and International Relations Exhibitions in the Multipurpose Hall, as well as the Brunei-Thailand Photography and Islamic Mini Book and Artefacts of Kings in the Region Exhibitions.

It was opened for the first time to the public in a ceremony yesterday by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who toured the exhibition.

The King, Protector of the Nation Exhibition is made up of 16 galleries.

It is organised by the Balai Kenangan Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Office of His Majesty the Sultan.

Among the event's objectives are to ingrain and cultivate feelings of love and undivided loyalty for the ruler among Bruneians, as well as nurture the national concept and philosophy of MIB (Malay Islam Monarchy) and at the same time strengthen the institution of monarchy.

It also aims to provide a closer look at the definition of the institution of monarchy and strengthen the ties between His Majesty and the people of Brunei.

The galleries carry still pictures, video presentations, various items and unique artefacts, decorations, medals, gifts and trophies, among others. - Borneo Bulletin (21st July 2006)
