Enchanting spectacle of 'Beauty & Strength'

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Dato Haji Awang Adanan bin Pehin Dato Awang Hj Mohd Yusof was among the thousands of people who witnessed the second instalment of breathtaking acrobatic performances by China National Acrobatic Troupe, dubbed the "Beauty & Strength", at the National Indoor Stadium in Berakas Tuesday evening.

Upon arrival, the minister, who was also the guest of honour, was welcomed by members of the organising committee Chan Sui Kiat, Jackson Ting Jack Hing and Andy Lau Sie Chuong.

Also present at the show were ministers, deputy ministers and permanent secretaries from various ministries as well as Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Miss Yang Yanyi.

Prior to the commencement of the show, the minister was introduced to the troupe, hailed as China's best of its kind, before receiving a souvenir from the organising committee.

For two days in a row, the troupe captivated the audience with a series of electrifying and jaw-dropping acrobatic moves, dances and Chinese kung fu.

Among the performances were "Orient" dance, "Dazzle Dance", "Pagoda of Bowls", and "Slack Wire Wizard of Wonders".

The three-day acrobatic show ended yesterday.

The China National Acrobatic Troupe, which was formed in 1950, is currently the largest troupe in China in terms of its programme of acrobatic acts, strength and skills and worldwide recognition. - Borneo Bulletin (27th July 2006)
