Royal groom visits parents

The two-week long regal ceremony, full of custom and tradition for the royal wedding between HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and YAM Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil, continued Wednesday with the ceremony of 'Majlis Istiadat Pengantin Diraja Muleh Tiga Hari'.

The ceremony was held three days after the grand 'Bersanding' ceremony.

There were two separate events; in the afternoon a protocol delegation was dispatched to invite the royal groom to visit his parents at Darul Karamah. In the evening, a protocol delegation from the royal bride then invited the groom back to Istana Nurul Iman. The intention of this ceremony was to allow the royal groom to visit his parents.

In the afternoon, the ceremony at Darul Karamah began with a protocol delegation dispatched to go to Istana Nurul Iman to invite YAM Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari back to visit his parents at Darul Karamah.

The groom's delegation was headed by Yang Amat Mulia Sanggamara Diraja Major General (R) Pg Hj Ibnu Baasith and Yang Amat Mulia Pg Setia Negara Pg Hj Mohd Yusof.

At Istana Nurul Iman, the royal groom, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil, entered the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana accompanied with Awangku Khairil Khalid, 12 'Sinipit', 'Dian Tunggal' brought by 'Awang-Awang', two young male 'Pahawai' one bringing with him a 'Kiap' and the other a 'Pasigupan' led by Juru Bini Dayang Hajah Rokiah and followed by two 'Pengangun Diraja', four 'Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin Penyurat Awang Maidin and Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Osman, a female Pengiran dressed in 'Gadong' and a 'Dayang-Dayang' bringing a Kaskol Langguai with seven male Pahawai holding a Puan, Tarian, Kabok, Panastan , Kiap, Chupu, Pasigupan and Kaskol. Also accompanying them were Dian 16 brought by 16 'Awang-Awang' as well as 'Awang-Awang' bringing with them Gangsa Alu-Aluan and Royal Regalias made up of six 'Pedang' and 'Perisai', six 'Tumbak Bendarangan' and four 'Kabok' and 'Panastan'.

Once the royal groom was seated, a Doa Selamat was read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz. After the Doa Selamat was read, the royal groom left Istana Nurul Iman and headed to Darul Karamah.

YAM Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari and his delegation arrived at Darul Karamah where they were greeted by his parents.

Upon arrival, a Doa Selamat was read by YDM Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Awang Salim. The royal groom then took his rest with his family. The afternoon ceremony then ended. - Borneo Bulletin (14th June 2007)
