Committee meets on Sultan's 61st birthday celebrations

The second National Committee meeting on the celebration of the 61st birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam took place yesterday at the Dewan Persantapan Lapau in the capital.

Chairing the meeting was the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Md Yusof.

In attendance at yesterday's meeting were Chief of Adat Istiadat, YAM Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg Anak Hj Abd Aziz Pg Jaya Negara Pg Hj Abu Bakar, and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Dewa Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awg Hj Dani Hj Ibrahim.

Also present were Permanent Secretary of Home Affairs, Hj Awg Mahdi POKD Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Hj Awg Abd Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adnan Hj Hanafiah, Grand Chamberlain YAM Pg Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana, Pg Hj Alauddin Pg Paduka Tuan Pg Hj Abu Bakar, Permanent Secretaries, District Officers and senior officers from the MHA.

Amongst the agenda for the meeting are the Majlis Ilmu event, Malam Serumpun 2007, review of the suggestions on the format of the programme of performances and His Majesty's Get-Together with Citizens and Residents in all the four districts.

Other topics include suitable dates for the use of the Legislative Council in conjunction with His Majesty's birthday celebrations, Symposium on Mukim and Village Councils and the National Book Fair 2007.

Yesterday's meeting began with the recital of al-Fatihah and welcoming remarks from the chairman. (15th March 2007)
