His Majesty pays respects to late parents

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday paid respects to His Majesty's late parents, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit, at the Royal Mausoleum in Batu Satu, Jalan Tutong.

His Majesty was accompanied by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen.

Present to welcome His Majesty and members of the royal family was the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Awang Haji Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin, and the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman.

State dignitaries, senior officers and other government officers were also present at the event.

The bertahlil event commenced with the recitation of surah yassin, tahlil and doa arwah, which was headed by the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Ustaz Awang Hj Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

At the end of the ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam poured scented water on His Majesty's late parents' graves, followed by other members of the royal family. - Borneo Bulletin (19th Oct 2007)
