Symbol of love for Sultan's leadership

The participation and involvement of all walks of life in the country including students from schools and educational institutions, youths, private sector and non-government organisations for His Majesty's 61st Birthday Celebration, illustrates the understanding, harmony, solidarity, cooperation and support amongst the citizens and residents of our country, as well as demonstrating the overwhelming support and an undivided loyalty for His Majesty.

This was stated by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda during the third meeting of the National Committee on His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 61st Birthday Celebration, held at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong, yesterday.

The Crown Prince, who is also the patron of the National Committee on His Majesty's 61st Birthday Celebration, said, "The festive mood celebrated by the entire community will also be shared by tourists coming to the country to join us in witnessing the unique culture of our country, particularly in terms of the closeness and devotion between a King and his subjects. The unity and cooperation shown is proof that our nation is capable of sustaining our Bruneian values in line with the concept of the Malay Islamic Monarchy."

His Royal Highness added, "This consolidation and unity is also exemplified by the completion of the 'Mercu Dirgahayu 60' in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th Birthday Celebration. This is a gift that signifies the perpetual love of the citizens and residents for His Majesty and also a manifestation of our people's heartfelt reverence for His Majesty in bringing forth unity, peace, prosperity and development to Brunei Darussalam.

"This is one of the contributions from the private sector and our people as a symbol of their sincere loyalty and utmost support for the leadership of a King who has the welfare of his subjects close to his heart."

With the sheer enthusiasm and close cooperation shown by the committee members at the national and district levels, the private sector as well as all the citizens and residents of the country, His Royal Highness believes that all the celebrations that have been planned at the national and district levels will be conducted in a successful and orderly manner.

Speaking on the upcoming nationwide gathering of the mukim and village consultative councils event, His Royal Highness said, "The event which will amongst other activities include the invitation of prominent foreign figures and experts to deliver lectures, will certainly enhance the knowledge and sharing of experiences that can add value to the revitalisation and progress of the mukim and village consultative councils. It is also hoped to be able to contribute to the peace, development, welfare, prosperity and further strengthen the longstanding solidarity of the communities in the country towards excellence, progress and competitiveness."

As the Patron of the National Committee, His Royal Highness said he was very pleased to express his sincere appreciation to all committee members including government officers and staff, the private sector, as well as the citizens and residents of the country for their dedication and contributions right from the beginning, in working together to ensure the success and vibrancy of the festivities during this year's celebration.

During the third meeting, the committee members reviewed the issues discussed during the previous meeting and the reports on the preparation and suggestions on the format of performances during the get-together ceremony with His Majesty in each districts.

The committee also looked at reports on the preparation of the Majlis Ilmu, Nationwide Gathering of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils 2007 and Malam Serumpun. - Borneo Bulletin (29th May 2007)
