His Majesty visits Special Forces Airborne 911 of Cambodian Royal Armed Forces in Kambol

Friday morning, His Majesty consented to visit the Special Forces Airborne 911 of the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces in Kambol, Phnom Penh. On arrival, His Majesty was greeted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, His Excellency General Tea Banh. Also there were the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence, the Commander of the Cambodian Armed Forces, the Commander of the Special Forces Airborne 911 and other senior army personnel. After inspecting a guard honour mounted by 500 commandos, His Majesty proceeded to the royal dias. National anthems of both countries were then played.

His Majesty was later briefed by the Commander of the Special Forces Airborne 911, Major General Chap Pheakdey on the history of its formation. His Majesty then witnessed several demonstration including ‘Sniper’ skills by the force’s sharp shooters. Another interesting demonstration was martial arts performance by highly trained commandos. The training is a must for every member of the Special Forces. His Majesty also consented to witness a demonstration on anti terror rescue mission. 12 parachutists carrying flags of both countries wrapped the military demonstration. At the end of the visit, His Majesty once again inspected a guard of honour mounted by 500 commandos. Since its formation, members of the Special Forces Airborne 911 have undergone trainings in the United States, Australia and Indonesia. It is hoped that His Majesty’s visit would further enhanced relations between the armed forces of both countries. (7th April 2007)
