Royal farewell to Their Majesties

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha and HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar yesterday morning bid farewell to Their Majesties King Abdullah II ibni Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah at the Istana Nurul Iman.

HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, YAM Pg Bini Hjh Faizah, and HRH Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah were also present at the event.

The royal entourage then proceeded to the Royal Dais to receive the Royal Salute, followed by the playing of the National Anthem of both Jordan and Brunei Darussalam.

Later, HRH the Crown Prince and HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah and HRH Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah bid farewell to Their Majesties and other members of the Jordan royal family at the Brunei International Airport.

Their Majesties arrived in Brunei last Tuesday on an official three-day State Visit, accompanied by members of the Jordan royal family and other senior government officials.

Upon their arrival, His Majesty the Sultan honoured King Abdullah II with the Royal Family Order of the Crown of Brunei (Darjah Kerabat Mahkota Brunei) and Queen Rania with the Most Esteemed Royal Family Order Laila Utama (Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Di-Hormati).

Meanwhile, King Abdullah II in return presented Her Majesty Raja Isteri with the Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Renaissance and HRH Pengiran Isteri with the Order of the Renaissance (First Degree).

On Thursday, Their Majesties the Sultan and King Abdullah II trekked through the jungles of Temburong to observe a Special Force Regiment Jungle Demonstration, as well as a Special Force Regiment Maritime Demonstration on Pulau Baru Baru.

According to the Jordanian Foreign Affairs Ministry web site, Their Majesties had proceeded with agreements in the areas of defence, tourism and economics, and reviewed the progress of agreements previously made concerning investment, education, academic and professional cooperation, Islamic affairs and maritime transportation.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty Queen Rania paid a visit to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Foundation School, touring the school's nursery and their facilities.

Later that afternoon, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania visited the Darulifta State Mufti Office and toured Sultan's personal collection of antiquities. - Borneo Bulletin (16th May 2008)
