His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to Dr Hj Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, on the occasion of Indonesian's Independence Day.
In his message, His Majesty expressed his pleasure at the continued close relations between Brunei and Indonesia. His Majesty expressed his confidence that this state of relations would continue and be enhanced and developed both bilaterally and through regional cooperation.
His Majesty also extended his personal best wishes and prayers for the Indonesian President's continued good health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sent a similar congratulatory message to Dr Nur Hassan Wirajuda, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.
In the message, HRH expressed appreciation on Indonesia's government and people for the considerable contribution they have made over the past year to regional peace, understanding and goodwill.
HRH particularly congratulated Indonesia on the lead it has taken in efforts to resolve the special concerns associated with global climate change.
Also in the message, HRH expressed his appreciation on the personal contribution of Indonesia'a Minister of Foreign Affairs to the outstanding efforts and look forward in continuing to strengthen the countries' much valued cooperation in the coming years.
