Princess signs China and Myanmar condolence books

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, yesterday morning signed the condolence books on behalf of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for the victims of the earthquake that struck Sichuan province in China on May 12, and Cyclone Nargis that ravaged Myanmar on May 3, 2008.

She signed the condolence books at the embassies of the People's of Republic of China at Kampong Sungai Hanching and the Union of Myanmar at Kampong Rimba.

Wang Wen Tian, Charge d'affaires of the People's of Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, welcomed HRH Princess Hjh Masna upon her arrival at the Embassy of the People's of Republic of China.

At the Union of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam Embassy, present to welcome HRH Princess Hjh Masna was Thura Thet OO Maung, the Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam. Also in attendance was Moe Kyaw Aung, the Charge d'affaires of the Union of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam.

According to the Myanmar Ambassador, "We have been sending dry food stuff to the victims of the Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar. The food was contributed by Brunei citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam".

He said, "For the first shipment, we sent 1.5 tonnes (of food) and the second was 3.5 tonnes of food. And we have done it (shipment) four times."

He said those who want to donate to the victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar can do so until May 25, 2008. - Borneo Bulletin (23rd May 2008)
