His Majesty attends Sultan of Kedah's special banquet

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday night consented to attend a special banquet in conjunction with the Sultan of Kedah's 50th anniversary to the throne.

The event was held at Istana Anak Bukit in Alor Setar, Kedah.

Accompanying His Majesty were Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar.

Upon arrival at Istana Anak Bukit, His Majesty was greeted by the Sultan and Sultanah of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Bahiyah.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Rashidah and Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna also attended the banquet.

The Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu' Adzam Shah ascended the throne on July 14, 1958 after his father passed away. He was officially installed as the 27th Sultan of Kedah on February 20, 1959.

More than 20 events have been lined up in Kedah to commemorate the Golden Jubilee.

Other attendees at the special banquet included Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, the Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak as well as sultans and monarchs of the other Malay states in Malaysia. - Borneo Bulletin (24th July 2008)
