Addressing the press conference His Majesty said, "We have had some extremely valuable discussions on many global subjects, of both regional and international importance.

"Obviously in view of the current situation in the financial market, we in Asean feel that this is probably the most important meeting of ASEM that we have ever had.

"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to discuss the implications of the situation with such a wide ranging and influential group of colleagues," His Majesty said

"On behalf of my Asean collegues we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Premier Wen and the people and government of the People Republic of China on a most valuable summit meeting," His Majesty added

During the press conference, a Chinese journalist raised a question on Asean cooperation to His Majesty.

His Majesty replied that the Asean's economic integration is what is being planned in the Asean Charter scheduled to be completed by 2015. The detailed blueprint to reach the Asean economic integration will be finalised at the Asean leaders' meeting in December, this year, he said. - Borneo Bulletin (26th Oct 2008)
