Sultan concludes working visit

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam Tuesday morning visited the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS), Honolulu, State of Hawaii.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Lt General Douglas Fraser, Deputy Commander US Pacific Command, and Colonel (R) Dave Shanahan, Deputy Dean, College of Security Studies.

Also present at the APCSS were the Ambassador of the United States to Brunei Darussalam William E Todd, Colonel Ken Rizer and Lt Colonel Steve Ma.

His Majesty toured the C-17 Simulator Facility at Hickam Air Force Base. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Lt General Loyd 'Chip' Utterback, Commander of the 13th Air Force.

After the tour, His Majesty attended a lunch hosted by Lt Colonel Loyd 'Chip' Utterback at the Hickam Officers Club.

Also present at the lunch was Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Hj Mohd Yasmin, Deputy Minister of Defence; and Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

In the afternoon, His Majesty left Honolulu after the end of the two-day working visit. Before departure, a doa was read by Pehin Dato Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

His Majesty was bid farewell at the Hickam Air Force Base by the Ambassador of the United States to Brunei Darussalam and the Deputy Commander US Pacific Command. - Borneo Bulletin (27th Nov 2008)
