His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar consented to attend a royal banquet to commemorate the 62nd birthday of His Majesty last night.

The royal banquet was hosted by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and held at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Jerudong Polo and Country Club.

Accompanying Their Majesties and HRH Pg Isteri were His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, General of RBAF, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and other members of the royal family.

On his arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness were greeted by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof and senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF and spouses.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was first introduced to the new RBAF officers before proceeding to the banquet hall.

Inside the hall, the National Anthem was sung for His Majesty by the RBAF officers' choir.

Second Lieutenant YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Mu'min performed as part of the choir. Lieutenant YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Fattaah was also present.

The event proceeded with the cutting of the birthday cake by His Majesty followed by the presentation of a 'pesembah' from RBAF officers and other ranks. - Borneo Bulletin (29th July 2008)
