Temburong hoists giant flag to mark b'day celebrations

In conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's upcoming birthday celebration, a giant national flag was hoisted at Taman Perayaan in Bangar Town, Temburong, yesterday.

Earlier, Temburong's Acting District Officer, Awang Metussin bin OKS Hj Tuba, and heads of various villages took part in a grand procession to bring the giant flag to the park.

The flag was then handed over to the guest of honour, Awang Hj Mohd Daud bin Hj Mahmud, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, who later presented it to Royal Brunei Police Force personnel who hoisted the flag.

The singing of the national anthem was performed by Sultan Hassan Secondary School's Choir.

After the giant flag was hoisted, the guest of honour distributed national flags to penghulus who would hoist the flags at their respective mukims. - Borneo Bulletin (2nd July 2008)
