Royal congratulatory message on Malaysia's 51st Independence Day

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to His Majesty Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XII of Malaysia Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence Day of Malaysia.

His Majesty expressed his pleasure at the long-standing close relations and friendship that exist between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia. His Majesty also expressed his great confidence that these strong ties and cooperation would always be maintained and further enhanced for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples.

His Majesty together with Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and Her Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar prayed to Allah The Almighty for the longevity and good health of Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nor Zahirah as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the Malaysian people.

In a similar congratulatory message to Premier Dato' Seri Abdullah, His Majesty congratulated him and the Government and People of Malaysia on the occasion.

His Majesty expressed his pleasure at the close relations and cooperation that continued to exist between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia. His Majesty expressed his confidence that the state of these good relations would continue and be further strengthened at both the bilateral and multilateral levels. His Majesty also prayed to Allah The Almighty that Dato' Seri would remain in good health and prosperity.

Meanwhile, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade sent a congratulatory message to Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and the government and the people of Malaysia on their 51st Independence Day.

His Royal Highness thanked the government and people of Malaysia once again for the friendship and goodwill both countries shared on so many occasions during the past year.

HRH said it has been a pleasure working with Datuk Seri in many recent Asean sessions and HRH looks forward to continuing their work to strengthen the much-valued cooperation both people enjoy as good neighbours, close partners and lasting friends.
