A one-day Charity Bazaar was held yesterday at Pusat Ehsan in Bengkurong in a bid to raise funds to offset the expenses incurred in taking care of the special needs individuals studying at the centre.

Her Royal Highness Princess Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah, patron of the centre, was the guest of honour who launched the charity event.

Also present was the Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman and the Deputy Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah.

Opened to the public from 8.30am to 5.30pm, the charity bazaar featured many exciting games and activities such as the flying fox, bouncers, garage sale, lucky draws as well as performances by local artists.

About 50 camps were set up by the organising committee to accommodate the garage sale as well as food and drinks.

This year's charity bazaar drew in the participation of more than 70 booths comprising the private sector, financial institutions, various associations and government bodies as well as individuals, all striving to raise funds for the centre.

The centre was swarmed with visitors as early as 9am, eager to contribute and show their support in raising funds for the less fortunate community in the country.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, HRH Princess Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah visited the charity bazaar camps and meet with members of the organising committee as well as the participants of the bazaar. - Borneo Bulletin (4th August 2008)
