Royal messages for Myanmar's Independence Day

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to send congratulatory messages to Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, and General Thein Sein, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar, on the occasion of the Independence Day of Myanmar.

In his message, His Majesty expressed satisfaction with the continued enhancement of relations between Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar. His Majesty hoped that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and people.

His Majesty also hoped that Senior General Than Shwe would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people of Myanmar to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.

In a similar congratulatory message to General Thein Sein, His Majesty congratulated the prime minister on the occasion of Myanmar's Independence Day. His Majesty also wished General Thein Sein his continued good health and happiness.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sent his warmest congratulations to U Nyan Win, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar on the occasion of Myanmar's 60th Independence Day.

In the message, His Royal Highness said, "I look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen our much valued bilateral relations as well as our cooperation in Asean". - Borneo Bulletin (4th Jan 2008)
