His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), consented to receive in audience the Chairman Chiefs of Joint Staff Committee, Pakistan Armed Forces, General Tariq Majid at the Istana Nurul Iman yesterday afternoon. Also present during the audience were the Commander of RBAF, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof and Acting High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, Imran Yawer. The five-day official visit by General Tariq is aimed at strengthening the diplomatic relations and friendship of Brunei and Pakistan armed forces and to extend the importance of defence cooperation of respective armed forces. - Borneo Bulletin (10th August 2009)
