Istana Nurul Iman will be closed to the public this year as a precaution to prevent the spread of the Influenza A H1N1, RTB reported.
With the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana, the Grand Chamberlain, announced that Istana Nurul Iman will not be opened this year for the public to convey Hari Raya greetings to His Majesty the Sultan and other members of the royal family.
The steps are taken on advice from the Ministry of Health to prevent the risk of spreading Influenza A (H1N1). The famed Istana open house has been an annual rarity in Brunei as residents and tourists alike are given the opportunity to convey Hari Raya greetings to His Majesty and the royal family.
