Brunei delegates safe, Sultan has left Thailand

Brunei delegates attending the 14th Asean Summit are reported to be safe and evacuated to a safer place following the disruptions by protestors in Pattaya Thailand.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left Thailand yesterday following the cancellation of the summit.

Senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade when contacted yesterday told the Sunday Bulletin that the Brunei delegation was quickly moved to another location after protestors stormed the venue of the summit.

The protestors who are mostly Thaksin supporters have been amassing in Pattaya which is Thailand's major tourist hotspot, aimed at disrupting the summit and also force embattled Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to resign. - Borneo Bulletin (12th Apr 2009)
