In the message, His Majesty conveyed his warmest congratulations to the president, government and people of the Philippines.

His Majesty said that it has been a great pleasure working with President Arroyo over the past year, as neighbours, friends, and partners in the region.

His Majesty also expressed his satisfaction over the long standing friendship and close cooperation between the two countries.

His Majesty conveyed his appreciation to President Arroyo's personal contribution to the work done in the area of agriculture, especially in the effort to improve self-sufficiency in rice production in the Sultanate.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, sent a similar congratulatory message to his counterpart, Alberto G Romulo, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, on the occasion of the Philippines' Independence Day.
