Royalty at BRIDEX

Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar visited the Second Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BRIDEX) 2009 yesterday afternoon with HRH Prince Abdul Wakeel and HRH Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.

Also at the Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX) were HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah along with HRH Prince Abdul Muntaqim accompanied by Rinawaty Abdullah Suzanne Rahaman Aeby and Dk Seti Aminah Pg Othman.

Upon their arrival at the BRIDEX Center's Dome, Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof and Dato Paduka Haji Abd Majid bin Haji Mangarshah and other senior officials.

Their Royal Highnesses viewed the aircraft manouver demonstration by the Republic of Singapore Airforce with its F-16 fighter aircraft, also known as the fighting falcon and followed by air displays from the Bell 412 and the Sukhoi SU-30 MKM strike fighter aircraft from the Royal Malaysian Airforce.

Their Royal Highnesses then proceeded to the viewing gallery to have a closer view of the sea and land base demonstration consisting of the FNSS Savunma Sistemleri AS, Turkey, ACV-300 IFV and Renault Trucks Defence, Sherpa 3, North Sea Boats, Surabaya Indonesia (LS&A of Brunei), Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) and in the background were Republic of Singapore Navy, Endurance; United States Navy USS Russell (DDG-59); French Navy, FNS Somme (A629); People's Liberation Army-Navy, China, Guangzhou; and Indian Navy, INS Khuri (P49).

After the sea and land base demonstration, Their Royal Highnesses then proceeded to the West Wing and East Wing Exhibition Halls to visit the participating booths from various countries and the chance to view their products.

The Bridex 2009 has drawn a total number of 9000 visitors yesterday for the exhibition and demonstration. Today will see the final day of the event where it will still be open to members of the public.

Demonstrations will feature the 'Flying Falcon' F-16, CH-47 Chinook from the Republic Of Singapore Air Force and SU-30 MKM-Sukhoi from Royal Malaysian Air Force. - Borneo Bulletin (14th August 2009)
