Royal message to Indonesia

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to Dr H Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

In the message to the Indonesian President, His Majesty stated that the government and people of Brunei joined His Majesty in congratulating him and the government and people of Indonesia as they celebrate the anniversary of their independence.

His Majesty expressed great pleasure in personally wishing Dr Susilo great success as he prepares to undertake a new term of office as President. His Majesty also offered His Majesty's warmest congratulations on the considerable achievements made by Dr Susilo's government and the Indonesian people in establishing Indonesia as one of the world's leading emerging economies.

His Majesty also expressed appreciation to the Indonesian President for his efforts in strengthening the warm relations and close cooperation between Brunei and Indonesia, and expressed confidence that relations between the two sides would continue to be strengthened in the coming years, bilaterally and through regional and international cooperation.

His Majesty expressed his majesty's best wishes to Dr Susilo for his continued good health and happiness and for the people of Indonesia to enjoy continued progress and prosperity. - Borneo Bulletin (17th August 2009)
