Thanksgiving prayers to mark birthday of Crown Prince

To commemorate the 35th birthday anniversary of the General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and the Senior Ministers at the Prime Minister's Office, the RBAF conducted a thanksgiving ceremony at the Bolkiah Garrison Surau yesterday evening.

The guest of honour was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awang Halbi bin Hj Md Yusof.

Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary II at the Ministry of Defence, Dato Paduka Hj Abd Majid Bin Mangarshah, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Directors at the Ministry of Defence, senior officers and staff at the ministry.

The ceremony began with a recital of the holy Quran and continued with the mass Maghrib prayer followed by a mass reading of the Surah Yassin, Dzikir Ratib al-Atas and thanksgiving prayers read by the Senior Religious Officer from the Ministry of Defence Ustaz Haji Roslan bin Haji Sulaiman. The ceremony concluded with a mass Isya' prayer.

Meanwhile, a thanksgiving prayer and mass prayer were conducted by Universiti Brunei Darussalam to commemorate the 35th birthday of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Pro Chancellor of UBD.

Among those present were the Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Education, Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad and the new Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Dr Zulkarnain Hanafi and other senior officers from the Ministry of Education. - Borneo Bulletin (17th Feb 2009)
