His Majesty meets Prime Minister Putin before ending Russian visit

On the sixth day of the Official Visit to the Russian Federation, His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam had a meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at the official residence of the Prime Minister, an official press release from the Brunei Secretariat in Moscow said.

At the meeting both sides discussed ways to further enhance bilateral relations especially in the fields of trade and investment, energy, defence and education. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern.

In the evening, His Majesty the Sultan, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar left Moscow. Before leaving for the airport, a 'doa selamat' was read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz.

Accompanying Their Majesties and Her Royal Highness throughout this visit, were HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah; HRH Prince 'Abdul 'Azim; HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik; HRH Prince 'Abdul Mateen; HRH Prince 'Abdul Wakeel; HRH Princess Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah.

HRH Princess Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; HRH Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; HRH Prince 'Abdul Muntaqim; HRH Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum al Islam and YAM Pengiran Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris were also present.

To bid farewell at the Vnukovo-2 airport were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Mr Victor Seleznez, Russian Ambassador-designate to Brunei Darussalam; Dr Hj Emran Bahar, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation and spouse; Ambassadors of Asean countries in Moscow; and officers of the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Moscow. - Borneo Bulletin (17th October 2009)
