His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to Mrs Michaelle Jean, the Governor General of Canada, on the occasion of Canada Day.

In the message, His Majesty congratulated Mrs Jean and the government and people of Canada on the occasion of Canada Day.

His Majesty also looked forward to continuing to strengthen the friendship and close cooperation between Brunei and Canada and as partners in the Asean-Canada Dialogue.

Meanwhile, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has sent a similar congratulatory message to Mr Lawrence Cannon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada.

HRH in the message congratulated Mr Cannon and the government and people of Canada on the occasion of Canada Day.

HRH also expressed his appreciation for the friendship that both countries share and looked forward to continuing to work together in the Asean-Canada Dialogue and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation. - Borneo Bulletin (1st July 2009)
