Prince Sufri to flag off Olympic Day Run 2009

His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, will flag off the running event for all categories in the Olympic Day Run 2009 on Sunday, June 21.

The run will start and end at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas. The event's organiser expects 2,000 runners to take part in the event.

The run is divided into six categories, namely, 10km for men 49 years and below, 5km for men 50 years and above, 6km for men under 15 years, 5km for women (open) and 2km for people of special needs.

Awg Rosli, Vice-President IV who is also Vice-President II of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council said interested runners can also register on the day itself, from 6.00am, at the National Stadium. The run will be flagged off at 7am by HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah for all running event categories. The running event will be preceded by a warming up exercise.

After the running event, HRH may also launch the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council's website and present prizes to winners of the running event, the drawing and colouring competition as well as some lucky draw winners. - Borneo Bulletin (20th June 2009)
