Sultan grants audience to envoys

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented Letters of Credentials to newly-appointed Brunei envoys at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.

His Majesty presented Letters of Credentials to Dato Paduka Haji Yusof bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Brunei's Ambassador to the United States of America, and Pengiran Kasmirhan bin Pengiran Haji Tahir, Brunei's Ambassador to the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Dato Paduka Haji Yusof was Brunei's former Deputy Minister of Communications. Meanwhile, Pengiran Kasmirhan previously held the post of Director of Anti-Corruption Bureau at the Prime Minister's Office.

Three newly-appointed envoys to Brunei - Sergio de Souza Fontes Arruda of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Jorg Alois Reding of Switzerland and Naveen Prakash Jung Shah of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal - later presented their Letters of Credentials to His Majesty during the ceremony.

Sergio de Souza Fontes Arruda, 66, is also Brazil's Ambassador to Malaysia.

The non-resident Ambassador of Switzerland to Brunei, Jorg Alois Reding, 58, is also the country's ambassador to Singapore.

Nepal's non-resident Ambassador to Brunei, Naveen Prakash Jung Shah, 60, is also Nepal's ambassador to Thailand.

His Majesty granted an audience to Brunei's envoys and separate audiences to the three foreign envoys. - Borneo Bulletin (21st August 2009)
