His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Deputy Sultan, in his capacity as the Chairman of Brunei DPMM FC, consented to attend a reception yesterday to congratulate the Brunei DPMM FC players for winning the Singapore League Cup in their maiden season in the S League.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was welcomed by Pengiran Haji Muhd Waslimin bin PSJ Pengiran Haji Abd Momin, the Acting Club Manager, Vjeran Simunic, the Coach of Brunei DPMM FC, as well as sponsors of the football team.
During the reception, Pengiran Haji Muhd Waslimin presented the Singapore League Cup to the Deputy Sultan.
History was made as Brunei DPMM FC became the first foreign team to snatch the trophy from the hands of Singaporean teams since the start of the league.
It is the second time that a Brunei team has managed to bring home a major football silverware outside of the country since winning the Malaysian Cup in 1999.
