Prince Mohamed trophy up for grabs

In conjunction with His Majesty's 63rd birthday celebration, the National level tug-of -war committee is currently organising a national level tug-of-war championship which will be held at Sultan Muda Hashim Primary School field in the Tutong District today.

Contestants will be vying in three categories for the challenge trophy donated by HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah. Category 'A' 70kg and below, Category 'B' for 1100kg- 10 pullers and Category 'C' for youth aged 20 years and below with a total bodyweight of 600kg for 10 players.

The winners for Category 'A' and 'B' will be bringing home the challenge trophies, a cash prize for $2,000 and individual medal. The second place will receive a cash prize of $1,500, a trophy and individual medal whilst the third place winner will be receiving a cash prize of $1,000, a trophy as well as individual medal and finally, the fourth place will receive a cash prize of $500.

Meanwhile, the winners for Category 'C' will be receiving a cash prize of $1,500, a trophy as well as individual medal.

The second place will receive a cash prize of $1,000, a trophy and individual medal whilst the third place will receive a cash prize of $800, a trophy and individual medal and finally for the fourth place, they will be receiving a cash prize of $300.

The chief guest for the event will be Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Haji Dani bin Hj Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

The Deputy Minister will be presenting the prizes for winners of Categories "A" and "C" while the Category "B" competition will be held during His Majesty's get- together event with the people in the Tutong District. - Borneo Bulletin (21st June 2009)
