Sultan attends Yudhoyono's inauguration

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning attended the inauguration ceremony of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia at the People's Consultative Assembly at Gedung Nusantara.

His Majesty was greeted on arrival by the Vice Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly. Also present to welcome His Majesty was Rahimullah, SH, the Secretary General of the People's Consultative Assembly.

The ceremony began with the playing of the Indonesian National Anthem. Dr Hj Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Dr Boediono were sworn in as President and Vice President of Indonesia 2009-2014.

In the afternoon, His Majesty joined other heads of government and special envoys at Istana Merdeka to congratulate the Indonesian president and vice president.

His Majesty left Jakarta in the afternoon.

Prior to departure, a doa selamat was read by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Present at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to bid farewell to His Majesty was Harry Kandou, Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. - Borneo Bulletin (21st October 2009)
