Princess Hjh Rashidah launches PPPBD project

The Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam or Persatuan Pandu Puteri Brunei Darussalam (PPPBD) has launched a two-year project for the development of the association by planting one hundred saplings throughout the PPPBD Headquarters' vicinity in Anggerek Desa.

Present to launch the project was Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah.

Accompanying Her Royal Highness were Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna, president of PPPBD.

In the Chief Commissioner of PPPBD Dyg Hjh Siti Hafsah bte Hj Abd Halim's speech, she revealed that the launch of yesterday's project is only one out of two projects that are planned to be carried out this year.

"Apart from our (PPPBD's) annual activities, two projects will be launched this year - the development project and the opening of an IT centre, which will take place in the near future," she said.

She further added that the project will be divided into three levels - the first level is the planting of fruit and vegetable plants, second level is planting of genuine vegetables (sayuran asli) and herbs, and the third level consists of planting the saplings of local fruits.

The event also saw Their Royal Highnesses planting the first three saplings in the vicinity of the Girl Guides Headquarters.

Later on, Their Royal Highnesses also toured the headquarters compound while being briefed by Dyg Hjh Siti Hafsah.

To enliven the ceremony, performances were also held by the Girl Guides' Brownies depicting the goodness of local fruits, vegetables, and flora and fauna. - Borneo Bulletin (26th Jan 2009)
