Negri Sembilan yet again witnessed another historic event yesterday with the official installation of His Royal Highness Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir as the eleventh Yang Di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, at the Balairong Seri (Throne Room) of the Istana Seri Menanti.

Present at the ceremony were Their Royal Highnesses, Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah.

Members of the Malaysian royal families, governors of Penang, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak, as well as the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia also attended the ceremony.

The installation began with the announcement from Dato' Bentara Kanan and Dato' Seri Amar DiRaja that the ceremony had begun.

The Undang of Sungai Ujong then proclaimed the installation on behalf of the Undang Yang Empat. The Dato' Bentara Kanan announced the proclamation to all the guests present and later led the audience in declaring 'daulat tuanku' three times.

Yang Di-Pertuan Besar then received respects first from the Undang Yang Empat, followed by the Shahbandar of Sungei Ujong and the penghulu luak tanah mengandong, lembaga-lembaga and senior clansmen from the various districts. - Borneo Bulletin (27th October 2009)
