Royal win at cross country competition

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah emerged as the champion in the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Female Singles Category of the 2009 National Army Cadets Cross Country Competition held at Muda Hashim Secondary School, Tutong District.

HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah completed the four-kilometre event in 28 minutes and 20 seconds.

Also in the same category was Pengiran Siti Aminah binti Pengiran Othman, who came in fourth place, clocking at 34 minutes and 30 seconds.

Meanwhile, in the Secondary Schools and Colleges Male Singles Category, the champion was Abdul Malik Awang Hidup from Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Mentiri Secondary School with his time of 27 minutes and 13 seconds.

In the UBD Male Singles Category, Amirul Shahezul claimed the top stop with his time of 34 minutes and 27 seconds.

In special group category for secondary schools and colleges, the first place went to PIHM Serasa Secondary School.

On hand to present trophies to the winners was Muda Hashim Secondary School Principal and guest of honour Hadion Lim Beng Guan.

Some 150 army cadets from UBD and 19 secondary schools and colleges joined the National Army Cadets Cross Country Competition, organised by the Department of Co-Curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education and Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The objective of the event was to instil the spirit of sportsmanship among participating army cadets. - Borneo Bulletin (28th Feb 2009)
