Prince Mohamed attends meetings

His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Saturday, attended the Informal Asean Ministerial Meeting (IAMM) and the Asean Foreign Ministers Meeting with the President of the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and the Secretary- General of the United Nations.

During the IAMM, the ministers recommended for endorsement by Asean Summit Leaders, the Declaration of the Inauguration of the Asean Intergovernmental Commision on Human Rights (AICHR). The meeting also discussed preparations for the Asean Summit in Cha-Am, Thailand.

At the meeting with the UN President of the General Assembly and the UN Secretary- General, ministers discussed ways to enhance Asean-UN cooperation.

His Royal highness also held bilateral meetings with Nasser Judeh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan and Karen Koning Abuzayd, Commisioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugess (UNRWA).

His Royal Highness also made a statement to the General Assembly stressing effective responses to global crises and advocated a change of direction in the approach to international affairs. - Borneo Bulletin (28th September 2009)
