The Brunei-Muara District Office together with the Mukim Sengkurong Council yesterday held a flag hoisting ceremony at the Sengkurong Community Hall. The guest of honour was the Brunei-Muara District Officer Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mohd Yussop Bakar.
Also present were Legco members Dato Paduka Awg Hj Puasa OKSP Tudin and Awg Hj Abu Bakar Mansor, Penghulus and village head as well as residents of Mukim Sengkurong.
Yesterday's event began with the arrival of the Brunei-Muara Assistant District Officer Awg Hj Othman who brought the giant national flag.
The Assistant DO was escorted by 30 units of 4WD vehicles driven by members of the Persatuan Kebajikan dan Sosial Garaj 16 led by its president Awg Hj Murni Mohamad as well as residents of Mukim Sengkurong.
Their arrival at the community hall was greeted by the Royal Brunei Police Cadet Band upon which the ADO then handed over the national flag to the guest of honour who then presented it to personnel of the Prisons Department.
This was followed with the raising of the national flag accompanied with the singing of the National Anthem by the choir group from the Language and Literature Bureau.
The Brunei-Muara District Officer then handed over the national flags to the Penghulus of Mukim Sengkurong.
