His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to Yukio Hatoyama, President of the Democratic Party of Japan, following his party's victory in the recent Lower House election in Japan.

According to a press release, His Majesty expressed his confidence that Japan would continue to prosper under the able leadership of Yukio Hatoyama.

His Majesty also believed that with continued support of Yukio Hatoyama, the close ties enjoyed by the two countries would be renewed and further strengthened.
