Royal congratulatory messages to Republic of Korea

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Myung-Bak, yesterday, on the occasion of the National Foundation Day of the Republic of Korea.

In the message, His Majesty sent his warmest congratulations together with those of his Government and the people of Brunei. His Majesty also expressed his great pleasure at being able to join the president at the Asean-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit which was held in Jeju, Korea, last June.

His Majesty went on to express his appreciation for the commitment that the president and the people of the Republic of Korea have made in strengthening relations between the two countries.

His Majesty also stated that his people joined him in expressing their great appreciation for the warm friendship and close cooperation long enjoyed by the two countries. His Majesty regarded this year's 25th anniversary of the bilateral relations between the two countries as a further opportunity to renew the strong commitment to enhance the much-valued relationship, both bilaterally and as partners in regional and internal cooperation.

His Majesty ended the message by conveying his kindest regards for the president's continued good health and happiness.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade also sent a congratulatory message to Yu Myung-Hwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea.

In the message, HRH sent his best wishes to the Minister and the government and people of the Republic of Korea on the occasion.

HRH expressed his delight with the excellent cooperation both countries enjoy as very close friends and partners.

HRH also thanked the minister's government and people for their kindness and hospitality in hosting the Asean-Korea Commemorative Summit this year. - Borneo Bulletin (3rd October 2009)
