His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar, and General Thien Sein, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar in conjunction with Myanmar's National Day.

In his message to Senior General Than Shwe, His Majesty congratulated him on Myanmar's National Day. His Majesty expressed his gratitude over the friendly relationship between the two countries. His Majesty expressed his wish to continue with efforts to further strengthen the relationship for the years to come.

His Majesty hoped that Senior General Than Shwe will continue to enjoy happiness and always be in good health.

Meanwhile, in his message to the Myanmar Prime Minister, His Majesty expresses his appreciation for the visit of the Prime Minister last year.
