The District-Level Executive Committee and Working Committee of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 63rd birthday celebration must step up cooperation with the community at the grassroots level to ensure that this year's nation-wide event will be a success.
This observation was made by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof, the Chairman of His Majesty's 63rd birthday celebration, during a meeting with committee members involved in the grand event at Muhibbah Hall in Berakas yesterday.
The minister encouraged members of the public to get involved in activities that are related to the royal birthday celebration, as this would enliven the atmosphere.
In Brunei-Muara District, the rakyat (people) will be able to greet His Majesty during the "Majlis Ramah Mesra Dan Junjung Ziarah" ceremony on July 19 (Sunday) at Taman Haji Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital.
Pehin Dato Awang Haji Adanan said that the get-together between His Majesty and the rakyat (people) is a "golden opportunity" not to be missed, as tourists will also have the opportunity to meet the caring monarch.
From July 1 onwards, members of the public should hoist the national flag at their residence.
As for those who have been bestowed titles, they are required to hoist their respective flags for the entire month of July.
The minister hoped that the penghulus and village heads will organise flag-hoisting events to enliven the celebration.
