Royalty takes part in Cadet Pioneer Competition

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah attended the Cadet Pioneer Competition held at the 3rd Batalion Lumut Camp, yesterday morning.

The guest of honour was the Deputy Principal of Sekolah Menengah PAP Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, Lumut, Hjh Murni binti Abdullah.

Her Royal Highness won third place in the individual female special category with a time of 41 minutes. Dyg Nor Seri Dewi bte Awg Hj Md Yunus came in first with a of 37 minutes followed by Hanifu Norfizah bte Md Salleh in 40 minutes.

In the male category, the championship title went to Alimin bin Haji Taib with a time of 31 minutes followed by Ahmad Farhan bin Hj Md Saifulizan in 39 minutes and Sya Abd Qadirulisyam bin Mustafa, in third place in 48 minutes.

SMPIHM, Serasa was declared as champions in the group category for the second consecutive time. They competed against secondary schools, colleges and UBD for the year 2009.

The school garnered the highest number of points (1,350), defeating the cadet squads from other schools and colleges nationwide. The second place went to Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab with 1,275 points followed by Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Abu Bakar with 1,270 points.

The competition was participated by 22 teams involving 220 participants this year.

Among the aims of this competition were to test the participants' map reading skills, physical fitness, mentality as well as to promote the enthusiasm in sports and healthy activities. - Borneo Bulletin (6th Apr 2009)
