Sultan opens 6th LegCo meeting

After years of hiatus and then reconvening in 2004, the opening ceremony for this year's Legislative Council meeting was held yesterday, which His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to officiate.

The Sixth Legislative Council meeting began with a parade procession by the Royal Brunei Police Force prior to the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Sufri Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Jefri Bolkiah.

His Majesty consented to inspect the guard of honour upon arrival and proceeded to deliver his titah at the Conference Hall where His Majesty addressed the Cabinet Ministers, Cheterias and state dignitaries, prominent figures representing business, religion and societal groups, district representatives, senior government officers, foreign envoys residing in the nation as well as invited guests.

As announced by the Speaker, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Haji Mohd Yassin the first official Legislative Council meeting will commence tomorrow at 9.30am. - Borneo Bulletin (12th March 2010)
