Promotion for UBD Army Cadet 1st intake

Forty members of Universiti Brunei Darussalam's (UBD) first intake of the Army Cadet Platoon received their promotion yesterday afternoon at a ceremony held at UBD's Chancellor Hall.

The guest of honour was Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ismaon bin Haji Zainie, Commanding Officer of Royal Brunei Malay Reserve Regiment. Among the promotion recipients was Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman.

The ceremony started with a recital of al-fatihah by Ustaz Hj Firdaus bin OKK Hj Nordin, UBD Religious Officer. The ceremony proceeded with the presentation of insignias and certificates of appreciation to all members of UBD's first intake of army cadet platoon.

UBD Army Cadet Supervising Officer, Warrant Officer Dk Amal Nazahiah, said, "The promotion is one of the incentives given to the cadet members for their involvement in every training and activity organised by Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) or Universiti Brunei Darussalam. At the same time, it can also act as an inspiration to the junior second intake members".

The ceremony concluded with a group photo of the promoted cadet members with the guest of honour. UBD Army Cadet was officially formed on February 21, 2009 and has two platoons active in every RBAF and UBD events such as the National Day celebration, convocation festivals and religious events. - Borneo Bulletin (13th April 2010)
