Royalty presents donations for flood victims

Patron of the Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, yesterday presented donations for the recent flood in the Tutong and Belait Districts held at the association's headquarters in Anggerek Desa.

Yesterday's ceremony began with the recital of surah al-fatihah by the Assistant Chief Commissioner of Religious Section Dyg Hjh Fatimah Hj Abd Ghani. It then followed with the singing of the National Anthem and two girl guides' song entitled "Dunia Pandu Puteri" (World of Girl Guides) and "Rantau Asia Pasifik" (Asia Pacific Region). Later, HRH also cut her birthday cake.

The donation presentation ceremony began with HRH handing over the cheque for the Pakistan Flood Humanitarian Fund to the Acting Minister of Culture Youth and Sports Datin Hjh Adina Othman.

It was followed by the presentation of flood donations for the two districts that were received on behalf by the Acting Tutong District Officer Awg Hj Mohd Sufian Hj Bungsu and Acting Belait District Officer Awg Hj Abd Hamid Hj Abdullah respectively.

Her Royal Highness also toured the association's Earth Project and witnessed members of the association planting saplings at the surrounding areas of the headquarters. - Borneo Bulletin (16th October 2010)
